Howard University Uplifts Safety Resources After Attack of Student

Being a DC native, this should have never happened on Howard’s campus, however, I do not blame this on Howard University.

This is a product of neighborhood kids being bored, resentful, and ignorant of an education and opportunity that many do not see for themselves.

The area around Howard University is becoming more expensive and more diverse with Howard building and expanding their campus as well; what was once a Black corridor within the city is now an area for LGBTQ and bougie Black people.

Howard University has always been seen as a safe haven and a place of pride by those who appreciate what it stands for in the community. It is up to the local community as well as Howard to protect it’s legacy. The local community, DC natives, should hold ourselves accountable in similar situations.
